AD-03 Paper Strength Enhancer for Tissue Paper | Practical Mill Trial Cases

For tissue paper manufacturers, balancing wet tensile strength, chemical consumption and stable machine running has always been a core challenge. Our cationic paper strength enhancer AD-03 is specially developed for lightweight tissue paper, and we have completed multiple on-machine trials in southern China tissue mills, achieving tangible cost reduction and performance improvement.

Case 3: Dongguan Tissue Mill, TM12 Paper Machine

The on-machine test was carried out on TM12, covering two lightweight tissue grades: 14.0 g/m² and 13.7 g/m². The dosage of AD-03 paper strength enhancer was fixed at 2 kg per ton of paper.

For the 14.0 g/m² tissue grade, we kept the chemical system stable and reserved enough balancing time without interrupting normal production. Before adding AD-03, the average wet strength agent consumption was around 18 kg/ton paper. After adding 2 kg/t AD-03, the average wet strength agent consumption dropped to 14.65 kg/ton paper, cutting wet strength agent usage by 18.6%, while maintaining stable paper tensile performance.

For the thinner 13.7 g/m² tissue grade, the benefit was even more remarkable. Original average wet strength agent dosage was 17 kg/ton paper. With 2 kg/t AD-03 added, the wet strength agent consumption was reduced to 11.89 kg/ton paper, achieving a 30.06% reduction of wet strength agent, and the longitudinal wet tensile strength stayed within qualified range during the whole trial period.

Case 4: Guangdong Tissue Mill, TM11 Paper Machine

Another full-scale production trial ran from March 17 to 21, 2023 on TM11 tissue machine.

Machine parameters: speed 1300 m/min, web width 2850 mm, basis weight 13–15 g/m², raw material: bleached wood pulp

Addition point: inlet of stock pump

AD-03 dosage: 1 kg per ton of paper

The trial delivered four clear advantages:

Higher wet tensile strength of finished tissue, allowing obvious cutback on wet strength agent consumption

Remarkably improved fiber retention

Lower consumption of cylinder sticking agent per ton paper

Stable paper machine operation throughout the whole test, no abnormal issues occurred
